The UK MIGHT be a little easier for to adjust to (but being a resident of the US, I do not know. I say that only because the countries are closer to each other.)
The US has a lot of fine schools. Ivy league schools (Harvard, Yale, Prinston, etc.) are supposed to be top par.
Only one that I have heard of from the UK is Oxford.

you should ask any specialist or any immigration consultant like
http://www.western-overseas.com/
cause you may check entire statistics from here. Cause they have good knowledge than us, so don't take any chance regarding future...

As an international student you will need a student visa to go to school here in the US. You will need to apply, be accepted, prove you can pay, then apply for a student visa. Your visa is only good during the school year. You must leave when classes are over. Right now in the US, the unemployment rate is sky high.
