A convex lens is needed to produce an image that is .50 times the size of the object and located 30 cm behind the lens. What focal length should be specified?

The equation i am supposed to use are 1/f=1/di+do where f=focal point, di=distance from lens to image, and do=distance from mirror to original object.

Your equation is faulty.... perhaps just a typo

Magnification = Image height / Object height = 0.5

Image distance / Object distance  = Image height/ Object height  = 0.5

30 / Object distance  = 0.5

Object distance = 60 cm

1/f = 1/do  +  1/ di   = 1/60 + 1/ 30

f = 20 cm
