What are some differences and similarities between incandescent and fluorescent light?

the difference is primarily in the spectrum of the light the two types of lamps produce
the similarities are in the brightness of the light produced, principally because you chose the lamps for that balance

also, incandescent lights use more electricity to produce an equivalent amount of visible light.  This is because much of the energy they consume is radiated in the form of heat (infrared light).
