I was in home-ec  and I was bored so I put a 5 dollar Canadian bill in microwave and the holographic part lit up so fast why is this? Btw I'm not a stupid rich kid I didint think anything would happen

holographic images are made with aluminum- and aluminum cannot be put in the microwave ever!! it could catch fire.

It may be that the holographic part has something metallic in it.  Metals usually light up in a microwave but can also cause damage to a microwave.  It has something to do how the molecules are lined up.
