For as long as I can remember, I've had this strange entity follow me throughout my life. I usually see it at the corner of my eye, or in quick flashes. It appears to be a very large, black dog. It has short, messy black fur, eyes with no pupils, and it's always watching me. It usually appears when I'm upset, distressed, angry, sad, depressed, etc. Basically any kind of change in my mood. It appears when I talk to myself when I'm alone. If I walk somewhere, some times I feel it behind me. When it's around, I feel a static electricity-sort of feeling. The atmosphere becomes heavy and I feel a little lightheaded.
My two dogs react to it, as well. When I'm home alone, they sit right up against me. I know their senses are much greater than a humans. Some times they both stare at a peculiar spot, and I feel the spirit there. They stare back. Sometimes they growl. It's very scary.
Just recently the Dog has been appearing more often, and I've been doing my best to ignore it. But I learned that I've made a mistake. Things started happening when I ignored it. Things will fall around me. As I walk up the stairs, things that I've placed on the railing above would fall. It might just be the vibrations of my steps, but it doesn't seem that way unless I physically shake the wood with the grip of my hand.
Last night I had a very powerful encounter with the spirit. I hadn't felt well at all yesterday, and I had explained to my cousin about these experiences. Then I told my best friend as well, thinking that she could help. She actually posted a question late last night, and we got some decent answers. But something doesn't feel right. That's why I'm asking.
Anyway, It was very late, and I was talking to my friend over the phone. I was laying on my bed, and the light on the far end of my room was on. Talking about the Ghost scared me, and I feel that it is very powerful in the dark. So I kept the light on. I believe that it was more interactive because I was fully acknowledging it for once.
I felt it stare at me. It was sitting right under the lights. I felt the static electricity sensation. I saw it n my mind. Staring. Very frightening. It knew that I was talking about it. All of it's attention was focused on me. I felt it.
My cousin texted me to ask the spirit why it was there. Moments later, my friend of the phone was silent, I was silent. I heard the floor around the spot where I believed the spirit was sitting shift. Almost uncomfortably. My dog stared at the spot, sniffing. I told it that I knew it was there.
It was getting very late, and I had no answer. My friend was on speakerphone, and she was reading to me about possible explanations. When the terms "devil, and ghost" came up, it shifted once more. Very uncomfortable. Nervous. But she stated that she didn't believe it to be a negative thing, and I agreed. The spot shifted once more, and I felt the mood change. It was more relaxed.
When my friend and I parted ways, the spirit felt more calm. I did too. So I turned off the lights. It was fine at first, then I was horrified. I felt the spirit move. Close to me. It was hot on my arm, and then I heard it move around the room. My dog was growling slightly from under the covers. I didn't see anything, I had my eyes shut very tightly. I was so scared. I head the spirit take its place by my stairs again.. And my cousin told me to ask what it desires. Three random words popped in my head : You, Here, Alone And that was it. Then I asked it if it was a guide or for protection. I got more words: To be here with... and that was it. Then someone advised me that I give him a name and not tell anyone. So I did. Then I felt the spirit relax again. Then I fell asleep. A few times I woke that night.. But it seemed fine.
I really just want to get to the bottom of this. I don't want someone saying "Oh you're crazy go to a mental hospital!" Or something like that. I just need someone's advice. I'm really nervous about this things intentions and I just need someone to tell me what it is. It has always followed me around. Any other details you need I'll give them.

A little while before I fell asleep, the spirit disappeared. My cousin claimed that he felt that something might have been watching him. But it wasn't much. Same thing with my friend. I got a text from her saying that she felt something watching her from the shadows.
We've gone through a smudging before, but It remains.
I don't think it's trying to harm me, but I do want to know what it's about.
