So most white people turn darker from laying in the sun, tomorrow for the first time im going outside, to a lake.
I have extremely dark colored skin, and I would love to be much lighter toned.
Does it work the other way around for black people? Do they get whiter?

I'm afraid not, bro.

But if you really wanna turn white, there's something called 'white metallic paint!' Check it out!

If that were the case you wouldn't still be so dark.

No, odds are you won't change color at all. If anything you may get a bit darker.

I found this question so intriguing. I'm not black, so don't know much about your type of skin. But I know you cannot get lighter, if anything darker

UVB-radiation promotes the cells in your skin to produce melanin due to damaged DNA through a process called melanogenesis. This increase in melanin is what causes a tan to develop in all shades of skin, not just light colored skin. If you're seeking to have lighter skin, try using sunscreen when you're outside or consider a laser treatment for lightening skin tones.

I should say you should feel blessed to have dark skin, darker complexions, look younger longer, dont show blemishes as much, and are just beautiful!

Wow, I wish I could help.
What's with the clown nose; a nod to Obozo perhaps.

The reason Africans have a darker skin is not that they are often in the sun. It is because, from very ancient time, those with a darker skin were better able to survive. As Africans moved north, those who survived better were those with a lighter skin because they were absorbing better the UV radiation needed to produce the vitamin D.

Thus your skin color is in your genes and you cannot change that.

I understand that you wish to have a lighter skin color because it is human to wish to be different. I have lived in Spain and there, all ads on the TV show blonde girls. But here, in Norway, where I live now, the good looking girls are brunettes. Hence the idea that "the grass is greener on the other side." But happiness in life is to be pleased with what you have. I have been married nearly 40 years with the same girl and I love it today more than before. I think she is the most beautiful woman in the world and ... I feel so lucky. Be proud of what you are, my friend, and have a nice and long life, being dark.
